The results of a study, the first of its kind in Turkey, in which patients with COPD and asthmatic bronchitis were treated in the Çankırı Salt Cave, and which was academically led by Dr. T. Barış DEĞER, Assistant Professor in the Department of Gerontology, have been published in an international academic journal. The project, implemented through a joint protocol between the Çankırı Governorship, Çankırı Municipality, Çankırı Karatekin University, Yeşilay Çankırı Branch, Çankırı Provincial Health Directorate, Çankırı Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, Çankırı Private Karatekin Hospital, and Çankırı Salt Rehabilitation Association, was published in the journal Current Research in Health Science. In the project, patients with COPD and asthmatic bronchitis received both speleotherapy in the Salt Cave and halotherapy in the salt room of Çankırı Private Karatekin Hospital. The study found that patients breathed better, were less tired than before, walked more, and their quality of life improved. It was determined that the severity of COPD and asthma symptoms decreased in patients.
